Our Story

Every material has a story.

Ours began in Cebu.

Growing up around a family furniture business, Vito Selma was introduced early to the rhythm of making: the smell of wood, the sound of tools, the patience of craftsmen, and the transformation of raw materials into something useful and beautiful.

But the world of design would take him beyond Cebu.

He studied in San Francisco and later pursued a master's degree in industrial design in Milan, where he encountered new ways of thinking about form, function, simplicity and materials. The experience expanded his perspective, but it also made something clearer: his strongest source of inspiration was already at home.

In Cebu, he found a unique combination of natural materials, skilled hands and generations of making.

That became the foundation of Vito Selma.

Established as a design label, the brand began exploring what could happen when Filipino craftsmanship met a contemporary design language. Wood became an enduring partner. Natural textures became a source of inspiration. Traditional techniques were reconsidered through new forms, structures and ideas.

The intention was never to imitate another design culture.

It was to discover our own.

Today, Vito Selma has grown from a furniture label into a multidisciplinary design studio exploring furniture, objects, materials, lighting, sculpture and bespoke work.

Our work continues to be grounded in the same belief: great design begins with curiosity, respect for materials and respect for the people who make it.
